How do you greet like an Arab? ›

Traditionally, nomadic Bedouin tribes lived in the desert in black tents made from woven animal hair. The tents served as a shelter from the sun during the day. However, they were also made and structured to keep the inside of the tent cool.

How do Arabians show their greetings? ›

In Saudi Arabia, the most common form of greeting is a handshake and the phrase “Assalaam 'alaikum” (May peace be upon you), to which the reply is “Wa 'alaikum assalaam” (And peace be upon you). Handshakes are most common in business settings and always use the right hand.

That greeting is “as-salamu alaykum”, which is written in Arabic as “ٱلسَّلَامُ عَلَيْكُمْ”, and literally translates as “peace be upon you”.

The greeting "as-salaam 'alaykum" literally means "peace be upon you," and is a traditional greeting among Muslims. Because the majority of Arabs are Muslims, it is also the most common Arabic greeting. The response to this greeting is "wa 'alaykum as-salaam," which essentially means "and also with you."

The greeting for Muslims is in Arabic - As-salamu alaikum which means Peace be upon you. Most Muslim women will not shake hands or hug men.
